For many American Indian youths, the educational outlook is bleak. In some cases, youths are more likely to drop out of high school than to graduate.

Education Indians

Good for them! I think that the Navajo Nation setting up their own department of education is a good thing. They need to have a place that they can teach their own culture and history to the new generations. I applaud the effort and wish them luck and continued success in this venture. I think it will only help to increase the education of other indians and raise the graduation rate in the Nation.

I think it's sad that they have had to go that far in order to provide the education they need. I'm glad that they are doing somethin gfor the betterment of their culture. Even though America says they are more for the "Salad Bowl" effect, having each of the different cultures maintain their own state individuality rather than the "Mixing Bowl", assimilating the different cultures to create a new one, our society is so stuck on conformity. They deserve to be applauded for taking extra steps in securing the teaching of their culture as well as Academic teaching.
