George Best was born on the 22 May, 1946. Belfast, Northern Ireland. he was European Player of the Year (1968) and Football Writers' Player of the Year (1968)

George Best is also widely regarded as the greatest footballer to have never played in a World Cup. Because he was born in Northern Ireland, who traditionaly have a weak team, he never lit up the international stage the way he did the English First Division.

He also peaked during a golden era of football, otherwise he may well have been the best player of his generation. Some believe he still was.

Best was part of a legendary midfield trio at Manchester United of himself, Bobby Charlton and Denis Law.
