Brothers and Sisters

In your family you may or may not have grown up with brothers or sisters, and because of this your relationships with others may have been influenced one way or the other. In this thread we wish to discuss the following points:

1. How strong is the bond between you and your brothers / sisters?
2. Do you favor your brothers over sisters or vice versa?
3. Do you find that older or younger brothers and sisters help you more in your enjoyment of life?
4. Do you maintain a relationship with each of your brothers / sisters equally?
5. Did you wish you came from a family that had more brothers or sisters?

1. I actually had a very strong bond with my older sister for years and years, after some family issues in the past, and the way she handles herself we have grown apart greatly. My little sister on the other hand is 9 and I still call her every night when I am out of town, and try to stop by her house and visit at minimum once a week.

2. No brothers, sorry.. Only guy here...

3. Yes definitely, my little sister helps to keep me feeling youthful.

4. Nope, not nearly at all. Not by choice actually, but there are differences there.

5. Not really, I don't feel I would have the relationships that I have now, family and otherwise, if I had a larger family.

1. My sister and I are very close. We do favors for each other all the time. We go places together and play games together. She is older than me and gives me plenty of useful, and not useful, advice.

2. Only have one.

3. My sister is able to take me places that I normally can't go. She gives me advice that is useful which does make life fun. She is also somewhat an example of sometimes what I should not do.

4. Well I maintain a relationship with my sister. It holds up despite some occasional bickering and bad moods.

5. Never actually thought about it. I think if I had had a brother or sister it would depend upon their age difference and gender. I think that I am fine with just one sibling. Never thought about having more really.

Sisters Brothers

1. I have a very strong bond with my two little sisters, but not as much with my three step-brothers. Perhaps because they are steps, I've lost touch with them over the years.

2. I favor my sisters over my step-brothers, which I've always had more in common with.

3. My younger sisters have always made me feel admired and needed. My little sister who I live in the same town with is my best friend.

4. Speaking only of my two sisters, I'm closer with the younger because she lives in the same city I do. I love them equally, however. I am equally fond of my three step-brothers.

5. No, five is enough.

I've got four brothers and one sister - I'm the 4th child, eldest girl.

1. I'd say I've got a strong bond with two of my brothers and with my sister. The brother just before me in age, I always looked up to. The youngest brother, probably because he's the baby of the family, I've always had a protective streak toward him. My sister... we were the only girls, so at some point we had to 'join forces'. smile.gif

2. Each sibling is individual and my relationship with them is completely different. I have my reasons for 'not getting along' with two of my eldest brothers, while the other two, I'd do almost anything for. My sister is my one and only sister - even when we argue, she's the only sister I've got. It's impossible to say which I favour more.

3. I guess this is basically covered in #2. I get along well with both older and younger... personalities are more of a factor, than age.

4. Considering the previous answers, I'd have to say "no".

5. I'm glad I came from a large family. I noticed early, growing up, that while there were always tough times, and maybe I didn't have the nicest clothes or toys, my friends from smaller families were more lonely, whereas I learned to appreciate alone time.

1. The bond is pretty decent. I get along with all of them and am very proud of all of them (2 half brothers, 2 half sisters & 1 stepsister) I could go on forever about them...

2. I don't favor any, but I'd say I talk to my sisters more.

3. I'm the oldest, and yes I feel that they enrich my life. They give me laughter. I'm glad they are in my life.

4. Only one of my siblings lives close to me, so I talk to/see her more. Mostly because I hate talking on the phone or driving long distances.

5. No, but sometimes I wished I had an older brother or sister.

Brothers Sisters

1. How strong is the bond between you and your brothers / sisters? Not as strong as when we were kids, but I'm very attached to my sisters.

2. Do you favor your brothers over sisters or vice versa? I have only sisters, all older than I.

3. Do you find that older or younger brothers and sisters help you more in your enjoyment of life? Not particularly. Although I feel very attached, and I believe we have good relationships, we don't spend a lot of time together and our lives are very different.

4. Do you maintain a relationship with each of your brothers / sisters equally? Yes, I think so.

5. Did you wish you came from a family that had more brothers or sisters? I always wanted to have an older brother.

1. I love my Brother and Sister, but I wouldn't say we have a really strong bond, just average.

2. I have 1 Brother, and 1 Sister, my Brother is 2 years older than me, and my Sister is 2 years younger than me, and I get on with them equally well, so don't favor either.

3. No, my Sister lives at the other end of the Country, so we mainly keep contact by the phone, but she visits about every 6-8 weeks.

4. Yes, both my Brother and Sister live hundreds of miles away, so it's mainly by phone we keep contact, but we do try to see each other as much as we can.
I probably get on better with them now we are adults than we ever did as kids.

5. No, laugh.gif, we argued and fought like cat and dog when we were younger, I think my poor Mum and Dad would be tearing their hair out if there were more of us *laughs*
