Weary Knight

God called me,
Whispered my name until I heard it on the thunderous roar,
The truth pounds on my mind,
Threatening to break the resolve that stands behind the door,
I fought against everything,
Ready to keep my ground,
But that wasn't the ultimate goal.

Take me away,
I've let myself go,
I dedicate my mind,
My heart,
My soul.

I struggle now,
Beyond the original fight,
It's more and deeper.
Not against God,
But against my own mind,
Something is moving,
Whether within or against me,
It hangs on the wind,
The odour sweet and sickly,
My spirit is restless,
Every part poised to fight,
Teeth bared with a threat,
The source untraceable,
The offence unmet.

To sit here confused,
Fighting an unseen foe,
Wears at the heart,
The mind,
The soul.

Sitting in a corner,
Heart bleeding from within,
The shadows seem so deep,
My adversary standing beyond my whim.
Hear the crossbow clicking,
The sheen of a sword rising from it's sheath,
If only you could see,
If only you could hear,
You'd understand my insanity,
The confusion of my mind.

To tear into their flesh,
Using knives, teeth and nail,
Finally blood with flow,
Releasing the pressure in my wounded soul,
Dripping from the corpses,
Mutilated and defeated.
Will I be among the dead?
Or rise a loyal knight,
A warrior for the wounded,
A warrior for my soul.

Victory is my creed,
The oath I swore to keep,
I dedicate this battle,
To my Master whom I serve.
With my heart,
My mind,
My soul,
I fight to save the world.

QUOTE (Weary Knight)
Will I be among the dead?

I remember seeing this in the signature of someone somewhere, possibly a place I visit. The poem itself is very emotional. I am always tantalized by the action of God's calling in a person's life. Please tell me more about your words.

This poem.... does hold a lot of emotion. Especially for me personally. I wrote it in church, almost completely oblivious to what I was writing. I've found that while I've been following God, that I've been used a lot in my writing, mainly to slap me in the face or to confront someone else. This referred mainly to me and two of my very good friends.

The first verse basically describes everything that I went through the last seven years. I fought severely against God and anyone who served him. At the age of nine I told God that I couldn't believe in something that had so brutally ruined my life, who didn't listen to the prayers of a child. Over the years I received dreams, a lot of dreams that until recently never came to fruition. Many of the dreams were of myself at the age I am now. I look much different then I did when I was younger and act quite differently but my dreams portrayed me accurately. The whole first verse describes my fight against God, and how much I refused to give up my desires, my flesh. It wasn't until my best friend died the second time that I snapped.

Which leads to the second verse. This verse wasn't written after I dedicated myself to God. This was written much before. Most of how you'll see me know is because of the prayer that uttered to the words of the second verse. It literally changed my life.

The rest of the poem is a look ahead, into the future. It's what I'm feeling, or I can feel in my heart is going to happen. Much of it was in my dreams, and what I was called to do. I'm still praying about it, but this idea, this calling I fought against as a child. Now looking at it I know that it's the only thing that I would actually feel fulfilled in doing.

I hope that was a good look at what I wrote. If you have any more questions, go ahead I'm not afraid to answer anything.

That to me is an accurate synopsis and even reminds me of some of the feelings that I expressed in my own poetry although not quite as dramatic. It is a good thing that you are willing to share your sacred feelings, thanks.

Thank-you for your review. I hope you enjoyed the poem, and I'm glad that it illustrates others feelings.
Do you have any more questions about it?

Very nice. It's been a long time since I read a poem with such emotion that flowed so well.
