New intestinal bug emerging in North America
NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Two reports highlight the emergence of a new, highly toxic strain of the bacterium Clostridium difficile that is resistant to fluoroquinolone antibiotics, such as Cipro (ciprofloxacin) and Levaquin (levofloxacin), and is causing geographically dispersed outbreaks.

What I found most interesting is that this has been happening *all over* the US for a couple of years now, and nowhere has it been in the *headline* news until this morning (At least that I'm aware of). Very scary, since it has been found in folks who haven't even been in a hospital!
