Hand Fish Catching

I was watching MavTV and was surprised to see that there was a thriving industry called, 'Hand Fish Catching' where you basically go in a river, stick your hand down a hole and catch a fish by its mouth and yank it out the water. Some of these people get very big fish this way, but it seems quite risky. What do you think about it?

We used to catch suckers like that but to do so with a sport fish would seem to me very hard in my area as they usually are very skittish.

Now everyone knows to catch a fish you just have to stick your hand in the water and wiggle a finger like it is a worm. When the fish try to take the bait you grab them and throw them on the bank.

No I never have done this but the skill is not that far fetched.

Catching Fish Hand

In Wales it's called "Fish Tickling", its part of our folklore.
Trout are caught by gently feeling for them under a riverbank, then slowly caressing them under the belly before tossing them on to the bank.
Its a great skill, but I have never seen it done.
