Week The Day First

As I was growing up I was taught that Sunday was the start of a new week. However, now that I have gotten older I see that I have come to more understand that Monday is actually the start of my week. First being, I show up for my first day of work on Monday morning, I work throughout the week, then I have a two day weekend before the start of my next week. Secondly,

Genesis 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

Do you have any references for this information? I would love to read up on some information to support this.

Week The Day First

I was taught since primary school that Sunday is the first day of the week. But I agree that Monday is what makes the week really "start" for those who work.

First Day Of The Week

It's all in the bible, going according to religious beliefs, the jews who believed Saturday was the last day of the week or the seventh day then in the new testament the Apostles and disciples met on the first day of the week. For me this is Sunday.

I know what you mean about work and everything, it makes Monday look like the first day of the week. but for those who are religious by christianity what would be a better way to start a week by worshiping the Lord at the beginning of the week to give you strength for the coming week.

First Day The Week

Monday is the beginning of the week for me mainly because of Academic reasons. Sunday is considered a day in neutral, as is Saturday.

Beginning on Monday is beginning my work week at school, the weekends are used to refresh and prepare for another week. Sunday and Saturday are my worship days and times to rejuvenate. I would be in terrible shape for the week if I didn't have those days.

I know it's odd, but I really don't consider Saturday and Sunday a part of a week.

Most answers to this question is based on religion. For me, Sunday is the first day of the week, largely because of the same things Weisenberger said, but also because I believe this was the day the Lord rose from the dead.
