What a lot of this boils down to is this: If someone is breaking into your home, what kind of self-defense weapon will you pick up? A broom? A baseball bat? Knife? All of those are "close encounters" weapons - your burglar has to get close enough to you for you to do anything. And worse, if you're like most people, you aren't in good enough physical shape to actually cause any harm. They'll just take whatever it is away from you and beat you to death with it.
If you're not at home and you are accosted on the street, what will you do? Swing your purse at him, toss your wallet? Run?
Is it somehow "morally superior" for a woman to be raped and then strangled with her own pantyhose? Or is it better that she have a way to defend herself that will stop an attacker before it gets that far?
Call 911? Right. How close is the nearest law enforcement? Even two minutes is too far away in a dangerous situation.

Comments: What the lady said is all right. Most women just don't want to hear about guns but the hard truth is until something happens to you like men breaking in your home then you wish to have a gun but its too late.

Obama vs. NRA
Wayne LaPierre is refusing to meet with President Obama on gun control, saying the President should focus on 'bad people' instead of guns. "Why should I or the NRA go sit down with a group of people that have spent a lifetime trying to destroy the Second Amendment?" responded LaPierre. And it's a very good question. Is this the right tactic for the NRA to take? Ref. Source 3
I like the NRA and the stance they are taking. It is not the responsible gun owners who are causing guns to have a bad name. It is the bad people or the bad elements that are causing the issues with guns. If we can get rid of all the illegal guns off the streets maybe it would be a safer place.
