Electrolux is closing AEG Headquarters
The Swedish Electrolux Corporate Group is closing the AEG household appliance factory in Nuremberg at the end of 2007 and will relocate the production to Poland. This was announced after the companys board meeting in Stockholm. The reason for this decision was said to be the increasing price pressure and the high production cost in Germany. The management wants to resume negotiations with the works council concerning a social plan. About 2,000 employees are affected by the closing. IG Metall is demanding a boycott of AEG and Elektrolux products. Besides that, preparations for a strike are underway.

I have noticed a lot of companies moving their factories from country to country to beat costs. I hate the effects that it has on economies as businesses come and go. The USA does not have the popularity of the Electrolux brand anymore. I very rarely ever see anything with this stamp anymore.
