Unclaimed Government Money
Sometimes a human government may claim to have Unclaimed Government Money. Regardless to why it is unclaimed, what do you think should be done with it? Some governments have been known to put it as part of a lottery or just invest it as they see fit. Is it right that government should take charge of something that belongs to specific citizens? What are the alternatives?
I believe the government should invest it in the general public after a stipulated time period. However, if there was no time set then a special account should be set up where such monies are kept just in case an heir may show up to collect.

Why is it that if we owe money to the government, they come after us with everything they have, but if they have our money, they don't even send a letter to let us know? Such a double standard, but I suppose we should expect that, I don't know why it actually bothers me anymore.
What bothers me about unclaimed government money is how difficult it is to find and determine if one is eligible for it. A person would literally have to spend money to determine if they are eligible for unclaimed funds. To me that is backwards. We need a simply state-by-state list, categorized, that includes all the possible funds that are out there for people to use. I mean, someone still has to apply for it, so it's not like the government gives it to the first person that finds it. This is the biggest reason why so much money goes unclaimed in the first place.
