There is nothing I hate more than getting an incorrect bill in the mail, and more so when the amount charged is ridiculous, but I think if I ever got this one I would just laugh:
Woman Receives $74,000 Water Bill
MASCOUTAH, Ill. - It's been a hot, dry summer in this St. Louis suburb, but Rose Mary Cook knew there was no way she could have used $74,000 worth of water. The city's utility department claimed Cook used 10 million gallons of water last month, charging her $29,787 for water, $43,581 for sewer, plus $893 for municipal tax.

Well, I have had a screwed up water bill about four times in my current location, but nothing like this lady! My worst water bill was for around four hundred dollars. I have an eight foot pool in the back yard and it takes around five hundred gallons of water. I have to refill it about twice a month from splashing and my water bill reaches around 65 dollars a month with the taxes we voted for to improve the water plant. Four hundred dollars made me hack and I immediately went to the water department. Funny thing is that I had to go all the way to the district water supervisor because they wouldn't let me out of my bill. The super did, but the point was that someone thought I suddenly increased my bill by six times its normal amount of water usage. For me, its always the utilities that cause the problems.
I am constantly plagued by this, especially by my phone company. This is mostly from my constant moving and their feeling the need to charge me for 'extra' things. After a couple of visits and calls I do get it resolved.
