Ford Motor's Lincoln brand is selling a version of the nicely done Ford Fusion sedan that's called the Lincoln Zephyr. Lincoln hopes that evokes images of the really old Zephyr, not the Zephyr version of the clunky Ford Fairmont sedan in the 1970s.

When I think of Lincoln automobiles, I think of large, vehicles that are luxury counterparts of Ford cars and trucks. The Zephyr doesn't seem to fit that mold at all. If I am going to buy a Lincoln, it needs to stand out, not blend in like any other car. Besides, I am paying more for the Lincoln name, so everyone should know that, right? The Zephyr is just not my cup of tea.
