
MARTIN ENDORSES BID TO KEEP GUN SUSPECTS IN JAIL
Prime Minister Paul Martin on Saturday agreed to support a proposal that would keep suspects accused of gun violence in jail.

I completely disagree with putting someone that is merely accused, in jail before his arraignment. If the evidence is so deemed by a judge to insinuate that the man could be a danger to society, then he should be held. But the prosecutor should not make that choice since he will be biased. This type of law leaves the courts open to abuse against the not yet charged, and not found guilty, suspect.
