As a smoker, its getting frustrating that I can't smoke any where, but I can understand the desire to keep smoke away from non-smokers, it is lethal. I think that in the future, possibly near future, many countries are going to follow spains lead. I know several states in the US have already enacted similar laws banning smoking inside public places.

I live in Nebraska and there is a smoking ban on public places here and in five years they don't comply they will be fined and possibly jailed. I don't know what is planned in the future but every day I struggle to breath with out the second hand smoke.

I think more and more places will eventually become smoke-free places. In Liverpool, England, some 45 miles from where I live, they have had this ban for a while. They were used as a tester case, so that other areas could watch, observe, and follow suit if necessary.
Where I live, which is near Manchester, the area in Manchester will become smoke-free from next year, I believe a lot of other areas will eventually do the same too.
