Portugal - Page 3

international QUOTE (fighum @ 26-Jul 10, 10:19 PM)
Brazilian are a mix between portuguese, africans and indians, so we share a good deal of DNA.

Oh the reason I ask is because of the football players like Christiano Ronaldo and others who seem to have a mix of different races. How is the relationship between Portuguese people and the next door neighbors? (Spaniards).

We don't have that mix, LDS. Portuguese are still very mainly the latin type. And I may be wrong, but people from portuguese island of Madeira, like Cristiano Ronaldo, are even more the pure type.

After many wars throughout the centuries, we and spanish are good friends. We were enemys during the colonization periods and bacause of border disputes, but we were similar in the 20th century with long therm dictators who get along well.

The democratic period of both countries has about my age and. In this period, Spain increased it's economic importance and made the portuguese a litlle envy of them.

LDS, I´m loving to talk about Portugal here, and I'm willing to continue, but I see you're from Argentina, and I would love to no more about your history. Is there a right place for that?

Comments: Went there on vacation and it was great. The Portuguese are very friendly, the women beautiful and the beaches a sight to behold. Definitely recommended for any future vacations you might have.

Under the Portuguese sun

People say the Alentejo is "Tuscany of 30 years ago". This is a compliment for the largest and least-populated region of Portugal, whose traditions, beautiful landscapes, delicious regional cuisine and "slow-lane" lifestyle have for too long gone unrecognised. Ref. Source 4
