Assuming he hasn't houseruled it, for Pathfinder It is a DC 10 constitution check, with a penalty on the roll equal to your current negative hit point total.
So if you originally went down at -3 HP, you would need to roll 1d20-1,1d20-2,and 1d20-3.
It's a DC 10 Constitution check. You get bonuses equal to your Constitution modifier (Ex. +1 for a 12 or 13 Con, +3 for a 16 or 17 Con), or a penalty if your Con is below a 10. You also get a negative to the roll equal to what your HP equals that round. Every round you fail you bleed out 1 more HP, so your negative becomes higher.
Example:
Jay gets hit and is at -3 HP. He has a 10 Con, so gets no bonuses (Nor negatives) to his roll from it. He rolls 1d20-3 and gets a modified 5, failing the DC 10 check. The next round he will be at 1d20-4 to save versus dying. A natural 20 is an auto-success.
Daishin and Diarmadhim are right.
Hegin's first touch will heal you for 8, which will bring you back to consciousness, so you might as well include some more actions. Note that you are on the ground, Hegin and Akiros are now beside you and the latter will have taken your scimitar.
Though you already did so, I want to make death rolls here as I had been originally asked. Again, my apologizes for not posting sooner and leaving things as they were. I have had distractions and because I honestly feared making death rolls.
Sighs, so here we go. Add whatever negative hit points she was at, and I added the ability modifier:.

Okay, I'm very confused. When Jesla transforms into a tiger it is the same as the Beast Shape I spell. I know how the combat stats work. The rules are very confusing regarding skills though. The rules to the beast shape I spell state that if the creature assumed has swim for example the character gets swim for a max of 30 ft a round. This is the part I don't understand. She inherits swim from the tiger. Does she use her swim skill of +5 or the +11 of the tiger. This goes for all the skills such as stealth. I don't understand. 3.5 was so simple. The Pathfinder version gives me a headache. .
You inherit nothing swimming related from the Tiger form I am afraid.
If the animal you turn into has a special move speed, swim 20, climb 30, fly 60, etc, you gain that move speed up to the max listed with the spell. The tiger does not, so you don't
You also do not inherit any skill bonuses associated with the form, including for the swim skill in this case.
You would need to turn into say, an octopus, if you wanted to be able to swim better via Beast Shape or its equivalent.

Thanks Daishain. That clears it up for me. I was hoping I would receive the +11 swim of the tiger. I was going to have Jesla make a rash decision to swim the river. With her lack of skill in swimming and the span of the river I don't think that she would do it unless she had to.

I can understand, Thomaslee, you have a new character to keep alive while also work responsibilities. No worries!
Kyrroeth, Daishin is correct, however you do get those natural attacks, low-light vision, and scent. Eventually pounce and rake too. It could be worth reading up on the rules in the Magic chapter under the Polymorph subschool.
