Zork is somewhat sure he is approximately in the right place, possibly within 2 miles from his target.
Out of Character: I need you specify how long Zork is going to observe, considering it is about 9 to 10 in the morning when he reaches the river.
I will need stealth and perception rolls for that action.
If, or when, Zork decides to continue, which way along the river (Assuming no tracks or tracks both ways)?
I need a few survival rolls to track.
Zork will stay watching for about an hour and when he is sure that no one is trafficking the area then he will continue along the river upstream.
Stealth 9
Perception 8
Survival 21,15,20,19
Out of Character: I added bonuses to each survival roll +4 and +1 to stealth.
Nobody passes in front of Zork for the hour he waits. There is only the sound of birdsong in the trees, the splashing of fish and the sight of rabbits and foxes in abundance.
Checking the riverbank, Zork notices the ground disturbed. There are sets of faint footprints, a clear set of them heading upstream, and another set downstream, with drag marks at the toe, as though the person was tired walking back after a long day. Additionally, stones and plants from the river clearly moved onto land as though dragged by a net.
After the hour Zork decides to go down stream for about a mile and then like before hide himself and observe.
Stealth 3
Perception 14
Out of Character: Wasn't sure if you needed more survival rolls.
Zork carefully creeps along the riverbank, trying not to be seen, but disturbing the underbrush he hides behind. The tracks become clearer then fainter, so he decides to rest again and observe.
Again it is the noise and sights of flora and fauna only, but nothing was lost by being careful. The only important thing he notices is where the set of tracks continue. The sun hangs high in the sky, signifying noon.
Zork once again continues for a mile and repeats the same. He is not anxious to be discovered since he has no one to watch his back.
Stealth 19
Perception 9
Again Zork repeats his observation to no avail. The sun has moved slightly and the ground appears to get muddier as you advance, as though opening into a flat wetland.
Out of Character: How about 3 more rolls of each of those and 2 more survival?
Zork wonders if he is wasting time. Still he has a lot of time not to be killed so he keeps repeating the process every mile. If it starts to get too wet he will head back the other way.
