Travelling by foot I might barely make it on time if I hurry Mykael thinks I have only three days before I am expected to be at the trading post and it will take three and a half days by foot. Mykael realizes that this makes it unlikely that he will be able to wait for Vekkel Benzen to make his return trip.

Unfortunately Mykael doesn’t have enough gold to purchase a horse either so his only viable options at this point to make a forced march to Olegs Trading post on foot at a quickened pace or see if he can find some form of transportation.

Out of Character: : Being a local of Rostov does Mykael know of any transportation services in Rostov where he might be able to hire a cart or wagon to take him to Olegs Trading Post or at least Fort Sorenko?

The guard shows you which road to take to the town square and where to turn right. He nods in return to your thanks.

The town square is filled with the bustle of hundreds of conversations, arguments, trades and deals, but there's a distinct lack of street vendors. The park in the centre contains a stone column in the shape of a sword stuck in the ground; a memorial to those lost in the Valley of Fire.
To the right (North) side, lies the city's main temple of Erastil, god of the wild frontier. It's a huge building, made entirely of different woods with an immense carving of a loaded bow decorated with many deer antlers hanging above the main doors.

Taking the alley right just beyond it, you soon come across an inn on the right side and a stable opposite. The sign over the inn shows a hand in a halt pose with the name 'Benny's' carved into it.
The stable is a freestanding wooden structure, roads all around, with a field in the centre, designed in a roughly triangle shape to fill unused space in town. The 150 foot wide area is covered all around its perimiter and can house about a hundred horses as well as carriages and wagons. Business is obviously going well, as there is little space left. A dark haired lady in modest clothing beneath a leather apron drags a cart full of feed, offloading some into each pen.
The inn is much smaller, its frontage about 40 feet across, but its half-timbered and white infill structure rises up 3 storeys and two attic levels under its pointed wooden roof. Through the front window you can see a busy drinking hall, warmly lit and filled with the many colours of merchants' clothes.

There are a few drivers of covered coach cabs in the city. Within the city the charge is usually 1 copper piece, but Mykael had never taken one outside the walls. Price also differs on the quality of the cab or carriage as well. If Mykael feels lucky and there might be a merchant passing Oleg's, the best place to find merchants is the inn named Benny's Stop. It becomes an after hours trading hub when people begin to leave the town square as it gets cold.

Another popular option is to use the Shrike River, situated on the south side of the city and flowing westward. Unfortunately the river splits away from the road beyond Fort Serenko. It an be slower but far less effort than walking there. Often, newly built barges and keelboats are constructed at Restov and never return due to the direction of water flow. They are then used along the calmer route of the great Sellen River.

It's common knowledge that travellers should also receive blessings before leaving. Erastil protects from the dangers of the frontier, Abadar assists merchants and traders, Gorum strengthens warriors such as caravan guards, and Pharasma wards more generally against death.

Out of Character: I think I did mention that the information outside of the charter doesn't apply. The date mentioned in the charter itself, 24th Calistril, dates the charter to be almost 2 months old. I didn't yet mention (But probably should have) that the current date is the 18th of Pharast.

*I dismount and walk Midnight toward the stables. As I approach I flash a smile at the woman*

“Well met, good lady! I would like to procure the services of your stable for the night. Might I inquire as to the cost?”

[Diplomacy check to improve initial attitude of NPC, 15 + 11 = 26]

*I pay the cost as long as it is within reason ((Typically 5 sp/night, I'm willing to pay up to 2 gp/night without roleplay)), thank her while chatting good-naturedly for a minute or two, and then gather my belongings off of Midnight before crossing the street to Benny's inn.*

Ignoble says...

Mykael will go to Benny's Stop. As he enters he scans the common area and attempts to locate the innkeeper keeping his ears open for any conversations among the merchants that may be there talking about travelling in the general direction of the trading post. If Mykael hears anyone talking about it he will approach them, "Any chance you have need for someone to help guard your caravan. I'm on my way to Oleg's Trading Post. I've worked many years with the guard here and good with a blade. I can help keep the bandits off your goods for a reasonable fee." If he doesn't overhear anyone talking about travelling in that direction he will approach the innkeeper and ask them if they know of anyone going in that direction or if they know where to find Vekkel Benzen.

Out of Character: Ok, I apologize for the confusion, you did mention that the other information didn't apply I was just confused about the time frames

Ingrid Benny explains her somewhat unusual pricing system. "Yes, we do charge a competitive 5 silver a night here, but the same charge is also to bring your horse in and also to take it. You can leave a deposit for however long you're staying, and we deduct the price each morning.
"It's a good deal, and well worth it for the care and love we show the animals."
Through small talk, Archival also learns that Benny is actually a surname and the inn has been passed down to the next generation 3 times already.

Both Players
Archival enters just ahead of a blonde haired man clad in scale armour.

Mykael enters behind a well dressed and jewelled man with platinum hair who walks with a short man dressed similarly and with billowing grey hair.

The window and door do a good job of muffling the noise from inside the inn. Entering, you are greeted by warmth and tens of voices competing with each other. Merchants of all shapes and colours mill about the ground floor arguing, selling, exchanging documents and drinking. The teenage waiter and waitress do their utmost to avoid bumping into people but simply can't, so scraps of food and booze litter the floor.
Behind a bar work two middle aged women and two men, serving drinks as quickly as possible and still struggling to keep up. It's obvious that the rotund man with short brown hair and beard is directing the others, probably the boss.

All of the merchants have their own uniqueness, but a few men stand out.
Two men in white attire and half-cloaks of deep yellow keep a watchful eye on the proceedings. A golden key amulet marks them as faithful of Abadar, god of civilization and trade.
A man in a violet robe with shifting patterns of yellow, like lightning, chants an incantation over a bowl of water as two merchants look on expectantly.
One man doesn't seem to fit the crowd, with wild grey hair and well-worn leather armour he sits alone in the corner.

Aericsteele
Unfortunately you do not overhear any conversations about Oleg's, made harder by the fact that people seem to quiet as you walk past. The conversations you do catch seem to be regarding commodities like wood, stone, iron and fabric with capital cities mentioned as the destination, such as New Stetven, Eagle's Watch and Port Ice as well as distant nations of Andoran and Taldor.

The innkeeper seems quite busy and in no mood to talk at the moment.

Out of Character: No need to apologize, it's my fault. And I probably made the situation worse by writing the wrong month. It's currently Gozran, not Pharast, my bad.

*As Caelum reaches for the door, I use our link to tell him I will get it. He stands by my side as I hold the door and allow the blonde haired man to enter first.*

Happily, I state, “Good evening! After you sir.”

*I blanch slightly as the unaccustomed amount of noise hits me. With a look and grunt of determination I move into the crowd. Upon smelling and seeing the food, my stomach rumbles and I make my way toward the waitress. Upon reaching her I press 1 gp into her hand.*

I whisper into her ear, “That's 1 gold piece. Please see that I receive a meal and some tea. You may keep the change as my way of saying thank you for your aid.”

*With that I grin at her and begin to search for an open table.*

The girl nods and takes the coin, dodging patrons on the way to the counter. Many of the merchants are actually standing, the tables mostly used for paperwork, however getting to the empty table space is a challenge. Caellum has little trouble, but it takes Archival a whole two minutes to politely get past and sit down.
In that time a gnome businessman in a black suit with black hair slicked back actually strikes up a conversation with Caellum. He's trying to sell some iron and silver ores as well as vintage wines.
When Archival finally does sit, the offer is repeated and the waitress finally brings the tea, mint leaves still swirling at the bottom of the clay mug. The meal will be another 10 minutes.

*Caelum relays the information to me in its entirety via our telepathic link as I make my way to the table.*

“That's quite interesting sir. My lord will be joining us presently,” Caelum replies, nodding toward Archival. “I'm sure he would be fascinated, and far more qualified than I, to speak on such matters.”

“I will?!” I sputter over our mental link.

*Snigger* “Of course you will! You said yourself that we were beginning our lives anew. This is a potential way to do so. Your adoptive father was a broker of sorts. Worst case scenario, you enjoy a conversation and learn something new.”

*I grip the gnomish businessman's hand and give a slight smile and a nod.*

“Good evening!” I greet him as I slide into the seat, settling myself to listen intently to his offer. During the sales pitch I ask short questions whenever clarification is needed and then allow the businessman to continue.

((Diplomacy check to influence attitude.))

*As the tea arrives I smile and nod my thanks, then go back to listening intently as I sip from the mug.*

“That's truly fascinating sir and I am interested. Sadly, I'm currently wandering in search of a place to settle down and make a name for myself. Eventually I might want to set up a shop of some sort and my friend here is quite good at crafting armor. Upon getting settled in, wherever that might be, I would like to keep your contact information and maybe we can do business at that time. You wouldn't happen to know of any potential opportunities for entrepreneurial young men such as myself, would you?”
