It depends with the person. The corresponding agencies (NASA/US, ESA/EU, etc) have began extensive research about long space travels and how they may impact the psychology. It will be lonely but I believe that is something all the pioneering explorers had to fight, even the ones that sailed first time to parts of our planet.
For me there are two things that are really appealing about Pluto: its moon that is almost as big as Pluto and the fact that its just so far away. Now that the 9th Planet has been found could that mean that Pluto will lose some of its appeal?
Pluto’s ‘heart’ sheds light on possible buried ocean
Ever since NASA's New Horizons spacecraft flew by Pluto last year, evidence has been mounting that the dwarf planet may have a liquid ocean beneath its icy shell. Now, by modeling the impact dynamics that created a massive crater on Pluto's surface, a team of researchers has made a new estimate of how thick that liquid layer might be. Ref. Source 4h.
How a moon slows the decay of Pluto's atmosphere
A new study provides additional insight into relationship between Pluto and its moon, Charon, and how it affects the continuous stripping of Pluto's atmosphere by solar wind. When Charon is positioned between the sun and Pluto, the research indicates that the moon can significantly reduce atmospheric loss. Ref. Source 9o.
Scientists make the case to restore Pluto's planet status
Kirby Runyon wants to make one thing clear: regardless of what one prestigious scientific organization says to the contrary, Pluto is a planet. So, he says, is Europa, commonly known as a moon of Jupiter, and so is the Earth's moon, and so are more than 100 other celestial bodies in our solar system that are denied this status under the prevailing definition of 'planet.' Pluto features given first official names. The Working Group for Planetary System Nomenclature of the International Astronomical Union has officially approved the naming of 14 features on the surface of Pluto. These are the first geological features on the planet to be named following the close flyby by the New Horizons spacecraft in July 2015. Source 6f.
