I just saw this! In all the hype over Scott Peterson's sentencing today, this event was nearly buried. I'm not sure what to think about this one -- there seemed to be enough suspicious evidence to convict him, but apparently not.

I'm not sure about this myself. I would disagree that there was sufficient evidence. There seemed to be more suspicious behavior than hard evidence, which is why I think the jury couldn't find him guilty. I feel for his young child, who apparently has been adopted by his older daughter. Fox News interviewed Blake's sister-in-law, and while she was in shock about the verdict, she even admitted that the prosecutions case was not air tight. The guy is 71 years old; he probably doesn't have very long to live anyway. I wonder if his age had anything to do with the decision.

I was pretty convinced he did it based upon news reports. Of course, we should know better than allow news reports to cause us to form opinions. The news outlets pick a side and then report everything from that side of the issue. So, I think we need to trust that the jury did there job. Remember, not guilty does not mean innocent, either. It simply means there was some reasonable doubt that caused them not to be able to say absolutely this guy did it.

Of course, I still think Scott Peterson is not guilty, so what do I know. laugh.gif

The jurors seem to believe that there was not enough evidence to condemn him since there are not eyewitnesses. Based on what it looked like, he seem to be the only person who may wanted to have her dead...She lived a pretty wild life and he wanted to get rid of her. I really think he did it.

Offtopic but,
Tena, I would like to read more about your opinion on Peterson's case and what makes you believe he did not do it. I am pretty familiar with the case since I followed it from day one and I would love to discuss this case with you and others. smile.gif

Why do I seem to be seeing 'OJ' in all of this? Civil suits always seem to be the backup form of 'justice'.

Robert Blake files for bankruptcy

From USAToday.com

QUOTE
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Robert Blake has filed for bankruptcy, 2½ months after a civil court jury found he "intentionally caused" his wife's death and awarded her children $30 million in damages.

Blake was acquitted in March in criminal court of murdering Bonny Lee Bakley. In Friday's filing, he listed his biggest liabilities as the $30 million judgment, a $1,274,783 million federal tax bill and a $334,337 state tax assessment. The filing says he has assets of $100,001 and $500,000

"The concept of Robert Blake doing everything he can to avoid paying was highly anticipated," Dubin said. "And we're ready for it."

The last comment was from the attorney who represented Bakley's family (Blake's former wife). I must say I am not surprised myself that he would file bankruptcy and I would think he is worth more than the $600,000 figure he quoted in his filing.

He is just protecting himself, after all I am sure he paid a lot to keep himself out of jail in the criminal trial. However, one has to wonder, did he really do it - and if he did - then he is feeling some of the consequences now, the better stuff comes later. devil.gif
