Wolverine
What is your review for James Howlett, superhero and member of the group X-Men?
Well first off, I didn't know his real name was James Howlett. I always thought it was Logan, but the Marvel Dictionary proved that wrong. However, some facts I found there are incorrect, such as this:
QUOTE |
Wolverine is not immortal, however. If the injuries are extensive enough, especially if they result in the loss of vital organs, large amounts of blood, and/or loss of physical form (such as having flesh burned away by fire or acid), Logan can die. |
Wolverine is one of my favorite X-Men characters. I like his attitude the most. I always wondered if it hurt when his claws came out of his hands. I suspect it would, but with his rate of healing, the wounds probably healed before the claws finished coming out. I always felt bad for him because it was obvious he was in love with Jean, but he never had the resolve to really tell her how he felt.
There is a site that goes through both his history and abilities in detail. Although it does not talk about the pain factor it does specify that the metal literally tears through his skin and that must hurt, but I am sure a tough guy like him gets 'used to it' after decades of the same old thing:
QUOTE |
He possesses retractable bone claws that are housed in his forearms, they are part of his skeleton system. At will Wolverine can release these claws through his skin between the knuckles on each hand. The skin between the knuckles tears and bleeds, but bleeding is quickly halted by his healing factor. The claws are naturally sharp and tougher than that of normal human bone structure. This allows Wolverine to be able to cut through most types of flesh and natural materials. (Note: While Wolverine possessed his adamantium skeleton, his claws were able to cut through almost any material without any fear of damage to the claws.) |
I like the interesting tidbits of info.
I have liked Wolverine in the books. I think he's a little overrated, though, and he's INCREDIBLY overused. At one point I think he was in like 5 separate books. The saints had to work really hard at their faith life before they could bi-aparate. Other than that, though, he's been one of the coolest X-Men. I'll be really interested to see where they go with him in the new Wolverine:Origins book.
Ah Beowulf you as so very correct in fact if you refer to the Brood wars that is dealt with very nicely. Like any immune system one can only bear so much.
I love this guy he knows his limits and is always willing push far past them for he team and loved ones. He is big time messed up in the last few movies and that was a shame.
If he hits a fall hard enough his organs mush no organs no life, but a true warrior and a skilled thief.
Pain yes he feels it and any who have read the stories has "heard" the character cures the pain as he is plodding along. As far as the claws popping out yes it hurts but if in fight mode adrenaline might mask it well.
Remember does it hurt when you get cut? Also it must hurt like blazes to heal that fast. Ever get a good burn and recall the itching of the nerves as the flesh healed? I sure do. Now imagine that same sensation all in a 5 to 60 minute time frame.
