Well I am going to put this bit here as it is related to power plants.
For the past few years many are seeking green power, as a result Ontario has signed contracts with solar and wind private generators to buy their power. It is nice as this promotes more research and production thus reducing the cost of the devices.
The problem or flaw is that the current price including tax is roughly 15 cents per kWh the price paid to the private "Green Power" Varies from 45 to 85 cents per kWh. The reason was to create more interest in the project by giving the private generators a pay back period of 7 years or less. But they never considered how much our rates will have to increase to cover this cost. The contract are good for up to 20 years.
Ironically it is greener to use solar to generate electricity but not by a large amount. So once again being naive does not pay off.
Solar 372
Gas 450
Wind 65.5
(Grams CO2 per kWh)
Solar was paid out at a higher price then wind generation so the reason for the project is in deep question for me.
