It is scary that some police officers would lie in this way, I'm very glad that justice prevailed and the cop is now facing jail time!

A traffic cop has been jailed for perverting the course of justice, when a surveillance camera video proved that he lied.
Karl Crompton, 43, lied to police about being hit by a motorist, who he had given a parking ticket. He fabricated an accusation that he was hit by an angry driver. Crompton told police officers that Edward Phipps, 63, plowed into him after an angry confrontation outside a pub in Bridgnorth, Shropshire, England. He was given a ticket for parking in a disabled space.
Crompton accused Phipps of deliberately driving into his knees, which made him roll onto the hood of the car. The traffic cop failed to realize that there was a surveillance camera in the area, which confirmed the man’s version that there had been no such incident.
After a four-day trial at Shrewsbury Crown Court, Crompton was convicted of attempting to pervert the course of justice and jailed for four months. Paul McGreary, the group manager of public protection and enforcement in the Shropshire Council, said after the event: "It is clear that the sentence reflects the seriousness of this case. Source 6

It is nice to see that the judge understood the seriousness of this case. The police officer behaved in a very unprofessional manner and he is now in jail for lying and trying to deceive justice.
