Kevin Shalin
Oh my goodness! I am glad he is going to live but seriously? Why he would do such a thing? He ate 413 cookies! His goal was 415! That's ridiculous. Doctors believe that the butter blocked his arteries and they drained about two liters of butter from him!
A food critic was hospitalized after he ate too many butter cookies, which he received for free.
After he was told that the cookies were free, Kevin Shalin, a food critic, tried to break the record of eating the most butter cookies in a restaurant, but he was unable to reach the record as he went into a coma.
Shalin, better known as The Mighty Rib, joined a number of fellow food critics to try the food at Red Lobster. They received a plate of butter cookies, which are free to anyone who orders food. "He sat at the bar while waiting for a table and decided to try one of the cookies. He thought they were the greatest thing he ever put in his mouth," Local food critic Daniel Walker said.
The signature Cheddar Bay Biscuits from Red Lobster are given to customers for free with purchased food in unlimited quantities. They list of cookies as 150 calories each.
Another guest, Kelly Gee, added: “They said those are free, eat as much as you like.” After eating 30 cookies, Shalin went to the manager and asked what the record for most cookies eaten by a customer was. He then returned to the table and said: ‘I think I can do 415’, and he started to dig in. His beard was covered in crumbs as he ate the cookies.”
After eating 412 cookies Shalin said he felt dizzy. Friends encouraged him to stop eating, but he continued as he wanted to reach his goal of 415. After consuming 413 cookies, Shalin fell to the ground in convulsions.
