Master Mahan

We learn that before Cain had slain Abel, Satan gave him the Great Secret and became Master Mahan. Later Cains third great grandson Lamech had entered into the same Covenent with Satan as Cain did. Thus we see the first Secret Society formed. Is it Possible that this Secret Society still exists and if so, does that mean that there is still a Master Mahan?

We cover some of this in the Mature LDS Board, but I briefly can say that for whatever God has on earth, the enemy has an equal opposite. By 'equal', I mean that there is an illusion created of similar greatness to God. For instance, God has a Prophet on earth, thus so does Lucifer, if you want to refer to him as 'Master Mahan' then so be it. As for the secret society - of course, both inside and out of religion, politics, education --> everywhere! The Book of Mormon talks a lot about this, there are threads in the Book of Mormon Board I believe that also cover this.

Comments: The term we have translated into english as "Master Mahon" or "Master Mahan" (the more correct spelling) is a very real position.

The position, at one time, was called something akin to "Master of the Dread Secrets." Over time, it came to be linked to one of the original and most powerful men who held the position. His name, as well as the name of the location he lived and ruled from, would be best spelled "Mahan" in English. So the position, in "honor of" this original master, should be called "Master Mahan."

Having said this much, I will say this: nobody connected with that position will every tell you anything about it. If you find anything more than what I just wrote, it is probably a lie / fabrication / guess.

With all of my research into this whole arena, I have found [..] little about the position. Apparently there has always been at least one person in this position. The problem is that you probably never know who it is -- it IS, after all, a SECRET society -- until after their death, and a diary or letter leaks out.

Another problem is that, in theory, Lucifer picks who it is. Now how on earth do you track THAT?
