You retrace your steps, and set up a camp again (I9). The night passes without event save for the usual howling of the wolves in the distance. You develop a great hunger and find yourself each eating rations.
The next morning you check traps and find nothing worth discussing. You wonder to yourselves if you are making progress or not.
GM: 6:00am. Party Stats updated.
You make your way once again to the forests just outside of the Village border. You make pits, traps and all the necessary, but the night peacefully passes without event save for the wolf howls faintly heard in the distance. You all anxiously devour rations each from a tiring day of travel along with your live courses that add to the flavor.
GM: 6:00am. Say what you will do now.
You keep a goodly distance from the mountains and spend all day slowly, but diligently looking them over in an anxious manner but can find nothing that looks of interest save for the hard to see blue smoke that comes from the top on the mountain near Death's Mouth.
GM: 3pm. Say what you will do now.
You continue your search diligently looking at the mountain as closely as possible ensuring to stop about a half mile from the actual opening called, "Death's Mouth". You hope something enables you to find a way around the pass or mountain, but your Search leads you to nothing of substance, at least where you searched. You then head north and then East, but in your movement you can hear the thunderous sound of horse hoves coming from the South. You look back towards the South and into the opening of Death's Mouth, just above you see what looks like a dust storm. The beating of the ground is becoming louder....
GM: Say what you will do now.
You ride fast towards the mountains (I'm going to assume you are referring to 12K). However, seeing that your horses are well ladened and your wagon a bit slow it is not timely of moves under the circumstance.
You look back to monitor the sound, but you do not see anyone pursuing you, but you do not let this hamper your movement as you can still see the dust and horses' hooves.
Ahead you see the mountains in the distance (12K heading East), but it will take you about a half hour to get there. You are heavy loaded so you wonder if you will reach before you are overrun.
GM: Say whether you wish to continue with your Party Order and I will just continue the story or if you want to change plans post accordingly.
Rather off topic, but... Sorry all for the delay, too much on my plate to deal with at times. |
Seeing that the mountains are closer you ride towards them in anticipation of a pursuit by something terrible, what it is you are not sure yet, but you do not allow it to remove your focus from escape.
After what seems to be an eternity of riding you manage to reach close to the mountains with your horses very tired and hot from the urgency of your get away. You do not see anyone pursuing you and you do not hear anyone or anything, but you are too far from Death's Mouth now to tell anyway. You begin to wonder what that was all about.
GM: You are now at 11K. Say what you will do now.
You make your way North again (K8), by the time you get there you are very hungry, tired and the light of the day almost at an end. You catch a fox, but you are unsure whether to eat it or not. You gobble down some rations regardless as you have no time for curry fox cooking.
GM: 1 ration each deducted. You probably did not take into account that it was getting dark. Do you want to head back now or camp? I am just asking to ensure I understand what you want to do.
You set up camp for the night. Everything seems to be well with you and your surroundings as you discuss the happenings of the day. As night falls you can see the clouds gather, and you wonder if it will rain. Lighting in the distance can be seen. The night is not so inviting as you can feel rain drops on your head. It is tempting to go under the protection of the wagon. The wind is blowing fairly strong. Despite a long day Klar manages to keep his guard up and notices about 100 yards away a pack of wolves is approaching with vigor followed by men on what seems to be horseback. There is little time to act.
