Lots of truth in that not that everyone will listen but I get what you're saying. I also believe you're right with branching off to another class while using my fighter as a backbone to start and survive the first few levels.

I have a horribly skewed perspective as most of the games I have been a part of did not last very long. Fighter however seemed a very strong class to me for early game. Melee or ranged, the added feats really made the class fun from the get go. However, I can see how this class might become dull later on, but I have no experience to back up this up.
