Three Sets of Twins - what are the odds?

Last month Karen Rodger, 41, from Renfrewshire in the UK, gave birth to a third set of non-identical twins. Doctors said the chance was 500,000 to one - but how accurate is this estimate? Ref. Source 2

I know of a couple who couldn't have children for several years. All of the sudden, the wife got pregnant with twin boys (The father is a twin himself), and after 2 years they decided to have one more child and to their surprised, they were pregnant again with twins, this time girl twins!
