SANTIAGO, Chile - The public is invited to tour the newly refurbished Santiago Chile Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Open house tours began on Saturday, January 21, and will continue through Saturday, February 11, excluding Sundays. The Santiago Chile Temple was originally dedicated in 1983 as the 24th operating temple of the Church. The rededicated temple will serve more than 535,000 Latter-day Saints in Chile as one of 122 operating temples worldwide.
They made the re-dedication of this Temple and President Hinckley was present. It was his first public appearance after his surgery. He looked weak and he spoke only for 15 minutes and said he needed to save strenght. He traveled with two of his sons and the Chilean youth have several show performances for them (it has become a tradition in Chile everytime a Temple is dedicated that the Youth perform some typical Chilean dance).
