I'm going to take a shot at this. I think, if a group attack versus Israel were to happen, it would be reminiscent of past wars when coalitions of other mid-east nations attacked Israel. Unless their was some brilliant strategy on the part of the aggressors, the IDF would not only repell the attacks, but likely end up with more land afterwards, as the fronts were pushed into the attacking nations. Which is exactly how so much of the land disputed there was gained by Israel in the first place, in defense of their population. My hope is that countries like Egypt and Jordan will realize that there is no benefit to an assault. That there is more benefit to learning how to cooperate and create a stable mid-east. Afterall, they are all going to have severe water problems there soon, and it would be better for all of these countries to pour economic resources in dealing with that looming crisies.
But again, if it did happen, I feel certain that Israel would have no need to resort to nuclear weapons. They have the best air force in the world right now, and their soldiers are fighting to protect their families. They have proven time and again that numbers versus efficiency will fail. Think of the Battle of Issus, Alexander versus Daris. Darius had overwhelming numbers, but they were beaten by a smaller group of people who had at the time, the most efficient and well trained army in the world.
Just my humble opinion.

I have to believe that it will still be fool hardy for any nation to attack Israel because they indeed to have nuclear weapons. Mordechai Vanunu blew the whistle on them in 1986 and gave his photographic and first hand visual evidence that Israel had a full blown nuclear project that was currently producing nuclear bombs.

In detail, Vanunu's data showed that Israel possessed over 200 bombs with boosted devices, neutron bombs, F-16 deliverable warheads, and Jericho warheads. The boosted weapons shown in the Vanunu photographs revealed a sophistication that inferred the requirement for testing. Vanunu revealed for the first time the underground plutonium separation facility where Israel was producing 40 kilograms annually, several times more than previous estimates. Photographs showed sophisticated designs which scientific experts say enabled the Israelis to build bombs with as little as 4 kilograms of plutonium. [ |
Israel has the second most sophisticated military in the world. No Arab country would dare attack it. Not even a coalition of arab countries would dare. Also politically, the world would not allow such an attack.
If for arguments sake it happened, I think Israel would be very hard to defeat, their arsenal is grossly underestimated by the West and as Konquerez points out, they are a nuclear power.

Now,when the unified Arab launch a war against Israel,US,of course will back up.But,please note - There will be no NUKE war.Neither Israel nor US will has no gut to do that stupid act. This act - NUKE war will trigger a world war. But,although without the use of nuke,ww3 may still being triggered by other thing.Russians may think that if US send her own army to Palestinian soil,it could bring the greatest instability on Earth man have ever seen.US want to assume the whole power to herself,by taking the region to her own,the act that Russians will not tolerate anymore.Do the US want her soil to be hit by NUKE bomb? Of course not.So do the Russians. And there will be no NUKE war. Please note that Arabs and muslims are human being too.Don't let your typical American opinion go out.You have to understand this conflict in a muslim point of view. When a muslim fight against conqueror in their land, they will be labelled as terrorist. What?!And do remember that muslims live are are no less valuable than other people.
This has happened before, more than once, and the Israelis pushed back the Arabs. This is how the Gaza strip came into their possession. I think the US will provide material support like before but not take any direct action. The only way I could see the US getting involved with a Israel vs. Everyone in the region war is if a foreign power not of the region got involved. France would be the most likely candidate, but I don't think they have it in them to give open and direct support.
