Discriminating Against Boys

A 17-year-old male high school student has filed a complaint with the U.S.
Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights accusing his public school of discriminating against boys. Doug Anglin said girls are treated better at Milton High School in Massachusetts, are less likely to be punished and more likely to be encouraged to perform well academically, according to a copy of the December 9 complaint.

Boys Discriminating

I've seen it happen where teachers seem to be more...lenient with females. But in other cases, I've seen it reversed, but more times, it's the females that are being sugar coated. I don't think it's necessarily a conscious thing they do. These days, most problems with law suits that arise with sexual harassment or neglect come from females, so I think in wanting to be extra careful, teachers accidentally fluff the girls.

Girls are so much more emotional that I think teachers fear being placed in a situation where they have an emotional girl on their hands. So, what they do, is they try to be over encouraging and overly lenient in order to avoid being accused of certain things.

I could be wrong, but that's my opinion.

As a male, I completely believe I was discriminated against in school!

But seriously, most teachers that I have pre-determine that boys cause more trouble than girls. I don't think its a huge problem, its more that the perception is that boys tend to push the limits more than girls. Now days thats not necessarily true, but the perception is still there.
