Politics - Canadians Need Visa for the US?

Canadians will now have to present a passport and visa to enter the US. What do you Canadians think about that? Is it ok or do you think they should just let you in? Do US citizens need a visa to enter Canada?

Well, I'm not Canadian, but I don't see the point. They have always been good neighbors as far as I can tell, and I see no security risks. So what's the point?

I hadn't heard about this, but I am sure it is not because we have any thing against Canadians.  We do consider them our friends.  However, a number of the terrorists who flew out of Logan and crashed into the World Trade Centers on September 11 entered the US through Canada.  If we don't require a VISA to enter through Canada then we need to rely upon Canada to prevent these people from entering their country in order to keep them from crossing into ours.  If Canada doesn't see them as a threat to themselves it isn't likely they will put a lot of their resources towards this.

Heck, we see it as a threat to ourselves and I don't think we do a good job preventing it either, but this is probably a step in the right direction.

I do see this being a big pain though because a lot of Canadians live and work in the US and go home to visit quite regularly.
