PHOTOGRAPHER, DIRECTOR GORDON PARKS DIES AT 93
Gordon Parks, who captured the struggles and triumphs of black America as a photographer for Life magazine and then became Hollywood's first major black director with "The Learning Tree" and the hit "Shaft," died Tuesday, a family member said. He was 93.

I didn't realize he had done so much in his lifetime. I knew he directed shaft, but I didn't know he was a photographer for life magazine, they have some of the best photographers in the world! His contributions to blacks in hollywood is even more apparent after his death.
