Fenris Introduction

I just moved across the US, and I'm jonesing for some gaming goodness. I prefer 4E to the earlier editions, due to the balance between classes (I got tired of running out of spells as a low level wizard, or feeling useless as a thief in any combat with undead or constructs.) However, I still know how to have fun with 3.x and other games.

Hi Fenris! At present the open Dungeons & Dragons version is 2ed and there is a Pathfinder game if you want to enter there. We have many other Role-playing Games that are more active, you can see them here: Role-Playing Games (RPG) & Adventure.

If you were thinking of running a 4ed Dungeons & Dragons game then I'm sure you will get a response from others looking to join in.

Introduction Fenris

I do believe I see a Pathfinder convert in you. The system changes many of the major gripes that Wizards of The Coast couldn't fix due to being ingrained in the game. A full list is available in the free Conversion Guide here. Using your examples, constructs and undead can be hit with precision (But not ooze, elemental or incorporeal which makes sense to me at least), and casters now have Cantrips at-will. Fighter types are now better at higher levels with well chosen progression.
Secondly, it sounds like your Dungeon Master was focusing on combat, where that should only be a portion of the game. My Kingmaker game will contain some combat but also focus on exploration and kingdom building.
Then, as has been mentioned, when you have enough core posts, World of Medieval, Future Earth and other Role-playing Game open up as options.
