Welding Art
Have you ever considered Welding Art? Most artist are not likely to also be skilled with an Arc Welding Machine or even Gas Welding, so they may shy away from it, but the truth is Welding Art using metal is magnificent. For one thing, once it is all welded together it is not very easy to take it apart. Some Welding Art can actually become useful objects such as tables, lamps, etc.
Here at BYU-Idaho, there is a teeny weeny gallery on the 2nd floor of the library that usually has history-related artifacts. With the recent 200th birthday of Joseph Smith, they had art and period artifacts relating to him. Getting to the point, one interesting work was a copy of Joseph Smith's death mask that was entirely welded. When I first saw it, I thought it was odd that they had it there because didn't really look like the death mask, but then I read the card that said it was entirely welded, and I saw it in a new light! I was very impressed, because I had never seen anything like that, and I have only tried to weld once and in my recollection it wasn't all that simple.
