Who Do You Pray To?
When Mormons pray, who do they pray to? What are their prayers like?
Mormon prayers are really rather simple. We pray to our Father in Heaven, using the words, concepts and needs that we personally have. We may pray for confirmation of truth, seeking comfort, seeking forgiveness for wrongs that we have committed. We may pray for divine intervention for other people, such as divine healing of friends and loved ones. We may even pray for God to help us achieve something that is personally important to us.
I only have a little bit to elaborate, because Nighthawk did such a wonderful job answering that! To add on a personal basis, I also find myself during the day, sending "smaller" prayers to Heavenly Father when the need arises for either strength during a trying situation or for someone on a momentary basis when the time is such that I feel prayer is something that would help. Also, the client I am working with is self-harming and one of the things that helps her when she is getting aggressive is when I pray with her. She is non-denominational and does not seem to become overset when I pray as she say "Like a Saint" because that is how she understands Latter Day Saints. I am very much enjoying this.
