Satellite Radio

Most of the cars for 2004 are equipped with Satellite Radio. You can pick up over a hundred radio stations. Not to mention commercial free. Do you think Satellite Radio will replace FM radio in the near future ?

Yes, I have been looking at upgrading to satellite radio for some time now. I do believe it is the next generation of car radios, and see it as replacing the traditional AM/FM stereo very soon. The one feature it is currently lacking is the ability to pick up local stations, but that should not be too difficult to incorporate once it becomes a mainstay.

You'd think that would have been already on that thing....satellite radio is very nice...one of my friends just bought it and it works like a charm. Awesome deal you'd be getting. Though it is unfortunate about the local channels, though the satellite should have at least one thing of your liking.

I was hoping the prices would go down but if they are going up I think I will stick with my fm/am radio. I do not see it going out anytime soon.

I refuse to pay for that which should be free. TV adn radio to me are one of the biggest wasters of monies besides cell phones.

Now that all are getting the dander up here is why. The station charges obscene rates for ad spots and then maximizes the number of them according to local laws. Now the ads are to pay for the costs ofd the station to run. So then they come out with cable no ads so you pay for it. No issue there. Now they push harder and add commercials to"offset" the cost for the end user ya right! This has just evolved into satellites.

Now I do realize for those out in remote areas the satellite can be the only way to get more then one ot two stations on radio of tv. But they are full off ads on the satellite also so why should it not be free?

Well, don't give up on it yet! I just see it going up like everything else. I have had satelite for two years now, I think it has been raised about a dollar more. With inflation looming, it's bound to go up? But yeah, free radio is always good! I still listen occasionally!
