Bailiffs - Thieves Or Genuine

Bailiffs have a recurring tendency to undervalue items for about 10% of what they're really worth. Is this justified for that person not paying their bills at a certain time? How would you feel if this happened to you?

I can't find the story anywhere but I remember over here in England one bailiff organization took 5 £2000 pcs off a company for a 5pence debt. What do you think of this?

Genuine Thieves Bailiffs

I believe people should pay their debt instead of blaming the bailiff. Now, I really do not believe a bailiff would be sent for 5 pence, since the fee of the bailiff is much more than 5 pence - that has to be a mistake or more to the story. Generally, if you do not pay a bill then the lender has right to reclaim their money. Now I am not saying that a person should not be given every opportunity to pay, but at the same time they should not look at the bailiff as a thief when they come to collect because of your lack of credibility.

Bailiffs - Thieves Or Genuine History & Civil Business Politics

I don't remember this story, but I wouldn't doubt that it is true. At one point, we used to live in an area where quite a few people had bailiffs calling at their house. Practically every other house on the street at some point had the bailiffs knocking, and repossessing their goods.
I don't know as I said about the above case, but I know for a fact that several people had owed a sum of less than £200/$120 and the bailiffs had cleared out thousands upon thousands of pounds worth of goods to compensate the debt, including leather sofas, computers, music systems, cookers, fridges the lot.. etc, way above anywhere near the price owed.
Whilst there is no getting away from the fact that money is owed, I feel that there should be a fairer system to reclaim the actual money owed. Whilst there are a few cases of blatant 'I'm not paying my debt syndrome' there are definite cases of poverty where a fairer option of repayment should be applied.
