The U.S. Senate signaled strong support in a vote for a bipartisan proposal to strengthen border security, giving a boost to prospects for passage of sweeping immigration legislation.
The 67-27 vote was considered a key test of support for the bill as a whole, as the measure also includes language echoing most other parts of the legislation.

DHS to boost security at federal government buildings
