Drink-fuelled crime and violence slump after new licensing laws take effect
We were warned: Liberalisation of drink laws would fuel disorder. The sober truth: Serious violent crime has fallen 21% - and is down by twice that in some towns - while there are 14% fewer woundings As for drinks firms? They are reporting no windfall profits.

I wasn't able to read the article in its entirety (subscription required) but what exactly were the drinking laws like before these changes took effect? Were they more relaxed than those in the US?
A lot more relaxed and alcohol fueled crime hit an all time high thats why they made it 24 hour service. I know it sounds weird but the main reason for people getting violent was too many people coming out out the clubs drunk at the same time and fighting.
