One Lot Or One Acre?

One Lot or One Acre?

Which would you rather have... One great Lot of land in a upper-middle class area or One Acre of land in a lower-middle class area - both are the same price?

Acre Or Lot One

I would go for the smaller lot because it is more than usual that prime property can only get more expensive whereas those of lesser values may not grow investments or take much too long to become developed.

If your 1 acre is a square then that is only 209 feet by 209 feet. A 1 acre lot is pretty good size compared to the size of the lots that are sold nowadays. Usually 80 feet by 100 feet. But still it is nothing to crow about. So definitely go with the upscale neighborhood, you can always visit a nicer park. There are other factors to consider though, schools, home owners associations and location to your work, to name a few.

Acre Or Lot One

Depends on what you're buying it for. If you need to live closer to an urban area for work or school, shopping and nightlife, want less yard work and more prestige, go prime. If you want to have room for a garden and fruit trees and kids and pets, room to potentially expand your home, and have no aspirations for "status," then take the acre.

The general rule if you want to make money with real estate is: Don't take the best house in the worst neighborhood, but the worst house in the best neighborhood you can afford and then fix it up.
