Detroit has, bar none, the best starting 5 in the NBA right now. Richard Hamilton, Chauncey Billups, Rasheed Wallace, Tayshaun Prince and Ben Wallace. Enough said. Their record is 63-15 and rivals that of the once former kings of the hard court Chicago Bulls. With the addition of former Timberwolves coach Flip Saunders, the Pistons are poised to hoist the NBA trophy once more. Who can hang with the Pistons in a 7-game series?
I have your answer, NO ONE!
They had a formidable team with just Billups and WallaceX2, but they have put together not just a talented team, but a team that really works well together and intimidates other teams. They are my pick to take the title this year at the expense of a good miami team.
Game 2 was a lot closer than Game 1 but the Pistons still won easily by 11; final score 109-98. The key to this series with the Milwaukee Bucks is the play of Chauncey Billups, and his ability to stave off T.J Ford. I think Ben Wallace will do well containing Boguts, as he has so far (only 8 points in Game 2). If Tayshaun Prince can continue to contribute offensively as he did with his 22 points, the Pistons will walk away with this series.
After a shocker in game 3 where Milwaukee handily beat the Pistons by 20, Detroit closed the book on the Bucks season by dispatching of them 122-93 today. Richard Hamilton dropped 40 points on a Bucks team was mismatched against the talent of Detroit. I still don't know what happened in Game 3. I guess every champion has to slip up at least once in while.
PISTONS AVOID ELIMINATION WITH GAME 5 WIN

The Pistons were overwhelmed by a potent Miami team, on both offense and defense, and bowed out of the NBA playoffs after Miami won the series at home before it could go back to Detroit for a game 7. I must say I was very disappointed as I did not think another Eastern team had the mettle to stand 7 games with Detroit. However, after seeing the Cleveland series, my confidence in Detroit dropped, and now we see they were beatable. Too bad for Flip Saunders who has now taken 2 teams (Timberwolves and Pistons) to Conference Finals, but not the NBA Finals. Better luck next year, Flip!
