Paper Shredder, Rip It or Burn It?

When it is time to get rid of sensitive material what do you normally use: Paper Shredder, Rip It or Burn It?

I simply rip confidential information then toss it. I know a lot of people are paranoid about discarding such information without properly shredding it, but I am not. As for burning, unless you have a good fire pit in your back yard, or live on a lot of land, it really isn't an option.

For me it depends on how sensitive it is... generally I will rip papers apart with my hand, but if it is a lot then I use a shredder. If it is not shredding material (like think material - old passports for instance) then I burn it.

I do not believe in Paper Shredder, I remember years ago reading some news about a guy who wanted to get rid of some sensitive material that if discovered would put him in jail, well, he used the paper sheredder (not the one that cuts the paper very small but the one that cuts it and sheredder in lenght). The court got the papers and guess what? They put all the information together! If I have to choose, I would rip it with my own hands.
