We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. |
I understand the principle of Jesus having a resurrected body. How does God the Father have a resurrected body? Does this imply that God the Father once had a physical body to be resurrected? Or is it only Jesus who has the resurrected body? Or rather, since Jesus is God, does God the Father also then share a part in this resurrection? Thanks for the answers in advance!
Growing up an evangelical fundamentalist, this question really intrigues me. Do Mormons considered Jesus to be part of a Trinity? That is to say, do Jesus, God the Father, and the Holy Spirit make up the Trinity Godhead that is one God, or do you consider them separate Gods? If they are not one God, then do you, be virtue of the previous answer, believe in multiple Gods, in this case three? And I have occassionaly heard about the 'Holy Mother', does she factor in to your beliefs on God in a way in which she is also God, or a God?
Sorry about all the questions in one, but I think they all really relate to the same issue of God's existence.
Basically, we don't believe that the Father and the Son are the same Person. Jesus said that He ONLY did what He had seen His Father do. Jesus was born, gained a physical body, lived, breathed, ate, expelled wastes from His body, everything else that a normal human does. Then He died and was resurrected, with a glorious body. If He only did what He had seen His Father do, then His Father must have gone through these same circumstances.
The basic doctrine is that God the Father is a Resurrected, Perfected Man. The official doctrine is that we don't know much of anything about this, other than the fact that He has a Body of flesh and bone - no blood.

37 And the Lord God spake unto Moses, saying: The heavens, they are many, and they cannot be numbered unto man; but they are numbered unto me, for they are mine. 38 And as one earth shall pass away, and the heavens thereof even so shall another come, and there is no end to my works, neither to my words. 39 For behold, this is my work and my glory-to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man. |

Message Edited! I agree, these questions deal directly with the nature and existence of God. However, I think that this question is closely related to the topic about the First Article of Faith topic, so will combine the two. |
