Child Abuse Viral Video Causes Outrage
In St. Joseph, Trinidad an obese man was seen in a Youtube video slapping and manhandling a small child. The video went viral and caused an uproar in the country. While it is terrible I find it a big double standard for the culture of the country to support the beating of a child as discipline and at the same time turn around and say "Its too much" When they see a video. Once you advocate physical punishment of any kind you are NOT going to be able to enforce that in every household. When children in this country misbehave most of the time its because they come from broken homes and are possibly going through abuse NOT because "They need more licks!".
Now here is more. The current PM is saying he needs to rethink a Children Affairs Ministry, why only after seeing a video?
Even more: TV6 had the couple involved on the news before! They had lost their own child at the Mt. Hope hospital and were complaining about the service.
So the mother of this child who is the one filming the video blames the toddler for the abuse she is receiving and on top, the police makes sure she reunites with her daughter after the incident?
Please, don't tell me that this sick woman is going to get away and will be allowed to raise this child?
I have many words to say but they are all cursing words. DISGUSTING.
Then the mother needs to be questioned. Why is it that she would leave her child in the hands of these people? How in the world didn't she notice the abuse the child has been probably experiencing? This is utter-nonsense.
According to CNC3, the man in question was granted bail and is now free in the sum of $150,000TT. He is to report to the St Joseph Police Station on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
His wife, was made the subject of a "Detention order" And she will remain at the Women's Penitentiary until the matter is resolved before the court.
And then we wonder why things are the way they are in Trinidad and Tobago. *sigh*

According to TV6 News the man involved in this case was granted bail in the amount of TT$150,000 which according to his lawyer he cannot afford. He is also to report to the police station 3 times a week. This is the same as what Pandora mentioned.
His wife, a Jamaican, apparently overstayed her time and was not given bail because even though she married him in April she did not submit the necessary papers to legalize her stay. Many will say these people are "Bad lucky" But are they? In this case were they victims of crime or a natural disaster or did they bring it on themselves.
