Cocorite

This morning the people from Cocorite, Trinidad blocked the highway with debris and junk to protest an area of the highway that prevented them from easily accessing their homes and the hospital. The traffic jam that followed lasted for hours. This led to the Minister of National Security visiting the site. The barriers that caused the problem were removed and the access area was again open.

Rather off topic, but...
Why can't Trinidadians also protest vigorously about food prices?

I understand why they did it but I didn't appreciate they did it to the point that it put the western part of the country in a standstill.

In the end they did get their way and within a matter of hours the turn around road was open for traffic. The government needs to invest some money and make that section of the highway have a proper flyover that takes people back east if they need it because that turn around makes traffic going from west to east slow down. Its also a very dangerous section of the highway since those using that turn around to get to Cocorite have to make an immediate cross through lanes of traffic to get to the other side.
