Well, I don't think that I personally have ancestors from Germany, but my husband does, and it is quite obvious in our last name, which literally can be separated into 2 or 3 words in German (you'd think I'd know which, but I've had conflicting reports). Everyone who hears our name for the first time asks if it's German, or if we have roots in Germany, etc. My husband is a convert and so has been starting his geneology, so he is learning a lot about his German ancestors, but I guess I don't know much, except that I think he actually has German lines through both of his parents.
My maiden name is Wambolt, derived from Wamboldt. My father is full German and his parents immigrated from Dietal, Russia, which is the German part of Russia, in the late 1800's I think. I have very little information from my father, as I lost contact with him for many years and now he is not living. He had 12 brothers and sisters and grew up in Nebraska. I know I have several first cousins that I haven't met. I even have a half sister I've never met. I've recently found some information from a Wamboldt geneology board from someone I know is my first cousin, and plan on contracting her for an exchange of information. I found it interesting that my ancestors are German, but are from Russia. I plan on researching that further.
I'm not sure I can answer your question about the Wambolt geneology but I would like to tell you that my last name is Wambolt. My birth father was Albert C. born in Nebraska, lived and married my mother in Idaho, lived in other western states, died in Colorado. I sent away for his death certificate and discovered he had a daughter listed as his next of kin who was not me. I've done a few google's on her name and it brought me to this website.

Hi Joyce. I believe I have met Henry. My Mother introduced me to my grandmother Lydia, an Uncle Leo, Uncle Henry or Harry, an aunt who's married name was Bengoache, (sounds like bing-o-shay). I also had some cousins named Mike Wambolt from Jerome, and twins Mary and Martin Foss from Twin. I myself was mostly raised in Twin Falls. Sound familiar?
Hi we most certaintly are cousins! I'm going back to Twin Falls this summer and will get in touch with cousin Mike and Uncle Harry and then I will get back to you with some information on family. Please post a note to me in again in Aug.
As I remember things there were 5 brothers and 5 sisters.

Joyce, how did your visit to Twin go? Did you get to meet with any of your cousins? I really didn't know the Wambolts very well as my parents were divorced when I was very young. I only met my Father once when I was about 10 years old. His name was Albert but they called him Sonny. I met Mike Wambolt (Leo's son) several years ago when he moved to Canyon county and became a deputy. He didn't stay in the area very long. Mike told me, and it pretty much confirmed what I already felt, that the Wambolt family were not very close even in their own immediate family and didn't keep track of each other very well. That was sad to me and not like my Mother's family at all who are very close to one another.
