John McCain: Television Consumer Freedom Act will help consumers
In an op-ed article for the Los Angeles Times that ran Wednesday, Sen. John McCain explained his proposed legislation that would allow consumers to purchase only the TV channels they actually want to watch. Ref. Source 8

The want for the ability to choose, and pay, for only the channels that you want have gone on since the early days of cable. I don't hold much hope it"ll ever happen, the cable and satellite companies have a lot of money tied up in useless channels. Even if were to happen, I can guarantee that there will still be package deals that will be cheaper than adding channels individually. I know I would be happy to pay more for channels I actually will watch.
