Be Careful Hiring Members From SMF
Recently a Member on the SMF official forums complaining about a guy taking his money and not doing the job. I have seen this many times and responded with the following:

I know because a lot of them end up contacting me telling me their sad stories about 'the other guy' that they hired. I have actually done themes for people here who then turn around and say they do themes and code and I'm shocked! If they are a themer or coder then why did they have to hire us to do it for them. Maybe the help available section needs to be monitored or moderated so not just everyone with a post count says they can be hired for $5 or $10.

I think doing anything online is pretty much a risk. I wouldn't hire someone that was working for $5 bucks. In my experience usually only someone in their pre teens would ask for that kind of money. Next thing, would I want someone like that sniffing around my server dealing with code or whatever? No way.

When I first started with SMF I reached some sticking points and hired whomever contacted me first. Looking back that was so so bad! I had to end up hiring multiple people to get the same job done right.
