Plane On Snakes

What hype? This movie is being made fun of and laughed at. People will see it for the humor value of its name alone. The problem is that its not going to be funny, and probably not satirical. This is supposed to be based on a true event that happened. I think that this was just a bad name in general, but in the end, it will bring in the hordes of movie lovers who can't be the only one who didn't snakes on a plane. Most of my co-workers are going to see it opening night, I am not among them, I'll wait for it to come to netflix.

A couple of my coworkers just went to see this. They were so excited about it and wanted our whole crew to go see it with them. I declined.

According to them it was a great movie. They declared it an instant cult classic and said people were already quoting lines right along with the actors, particularly Samuel Jackson. They also said it was pretty predictable though, that you knew who was going to die right from the start.

I guess they found the whole movie humorous and were laughing at some parts that were clearly not supposed to be funny, getting dirty looks from some of the other movie goers.

I listened to Michael Medved this afternoon on the way home from work. He talked quite a bit about this move (he is a nationally syndicated movie critic).

The movie was written and directed to be a PG-13 movie. It was meant to be cheesy and filled with dark humor. However, there was a bunch of blogs on the Internet that pushed and pushed to have it made into an R rated movie. So, they filmed for an extra 5 days in order to put a couple of gratuitous sex and nudity scenes, along with some f*** and s*** words in it, so that it would be rated R.

So, a movie that was designed for 14 year old boys became a movie that almost all parents will stop their 13-16 year old boys from seeing.

It could have been a great campy horror movie, but it instead became a poor, soft-core horror movie.

And the quotes from Samuel L. Jackson? The juvenile adults love the lines filled with "mother*******". It is crude and uncouth.

Sounds like something I really don't want to see.

When I saw the preview the first thing I thought is this is utter nonsense. Then I was given gratification by hearing others in the cinema utter the same thing with their own unique words. Watching the 2 minute clip reminded me of those cheesy films from the seventies... oh please.

By the way, the rating in this country is 16 years and over.
